The bill to regulate constables fees in the several
counties therein mentioned, was read the second time by
especial order and will not pass.
The bill authorising and empowering the register of
wills of Anne-Arundel county to transmit to the office of
register of wills of Worcester county the will of Thomas Powell, of Worcester,
deceased, was read the second
time and will pass.
William Hindman, Esquire, has leave of absence.
The senate adjourns till Monday morning 10 o'clock.

A Y, December 15, 1800.
THE senate met. Present the same members as
on yesterday, except John Grahame, Uriah Forrest and
William Hindman, Esquires, who had leave of absence. The proceedings of
Saturday were read.
The bill to make valid a deed of conveyance from Moses
Jacques, of New-Jersey, to Thomas Purnell, of
Walton, of Worcester county, the bill respecting idiots, lunatics and persons
non compos mentis, the amendments
thereto, the bill for incorporating the methodist episcopal churches, known
by the name of the Light-street and
Old-town Methodist Churches, in the City of Baltimore, in the State of
Maryland, the further supplement to an
act, entitled, An act to establish pilots, and to regulate their fees,
the bill for the improvement of the public
roads in Kent county, the amendments thereto, the additional supplement
to the act, entitled, An act for the
opening of Second-street, in the city of Baltimore, the bill authorising
and empowering the register of wills of
Anne-Arundel county to transmit to the office of register of wills of Worcester
county the will of Thomas
Powell, of Worcester, deceased, and the resolution in favour of Robert
Courtenay, were sent to the house of
delegates by the clerk.
The supplement to an act, entitled, An act to regulate
elections, was read the second time and will pass with
the proposed amendments.
Amendments proposed. Strike out from the word
"have" in the sixth line of the first page to the word "line"
in the eleventh line of the same page, and insert " not sufficiently designated
the." Strike out from the word "five"
in the twelfth line of the same page to the word "for" in the sixteenth
line of same page. Strike out from the
word "that" in the first line of the second page to the end of the bill,
and insert " the division line between
districts number four and number five, in Washington county, shall be closed
and completed by a line drawn due
north from the head of the Green Spring furnace run to intersect the Pennsylvania
line, and that the division
hereby ascertained shall be of the same avail, and have in all respects
the same effect, as if the same had been
particularly designated in the return of the commissioners appointed under
the act to which this is a supplement."
The bill for opening a road leading from the town of
Baldensburgh, in Prince-George's county, to the city of
Washington, until it intersects the present road at or near the district
line of Columbia, was read the second
time and will pass with the proposed amendment.
Amendment proposed. At the end of the thirteenth
line if the second page insert, " and provided also, that
the said road shall not be opened through the lands of any minor or minors
without the consent of his, her or
their guardian or guardians."
The bill for the relief of Henry Casey, of the city
of Baltimore, was read the second time and will pass.
The bill for the relief of Hugh Ferguson, of Kent county,
was read the second time and will pass.
The further supplement to an act, entitled, An act to
establish and regulate a market at Bridge-town, in Kent
county, and for other purposes, was read the second time and will pass.
The bill for the benefit of Michael Fenwick, of Saint-Mary's
county, was read the second time and will pass.
The bill to authorise the laying out a public road from
the ford on the Little Falls of Gunpowder, near a mill
known by the name of the Dutch Mill, to intersect the York road near
Josiah Hitchcock's old blacksmith's shop,
in Harford county, was read the second time and will pass.
The president communicates to the senate a petition
from George W. Purnell, Elisha Purnell, Littleton R.
Purnell, Henrietta Purnell and George Purnell, praying that an act may
pass to confirm the title of the trustees
appointed by the testament and last will of John Purnell, late of Worcester
county, deceased, to certain lands
therein devised to them; which was read and ordered to lie on the table.
On a second reading of the memorial of the society of
free-masons within the state of Maryland, ORDERED,
That the memorialists have leave to withdraw their memorial.
On motion, David McMechen, Esquire, delivers to the
president a bill, entitled, An act to incorporate the
trustees of the Baltimore and Harford academy; which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.
The clerk of the house of delegates delivers a bill,
entitled, An additional supplement to the act, entitled,
An act to regulate elections, endorsed; " By the house of delegates, December
