10            VOTES and PROCEEDINGS, November Session, 1800.

    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers a bill, entitled, An act to open a road to Philip Hardcastle's mill,
in Caroline county, endorsed; " By the house of delegates, November 17, 1800:  Read the first time and ordered
" to lie on the table.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, November 19, 1800:  Read the second time and will pass.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk."
The following resolutions:

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, November 19, 1800.
    RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to John B. Onion, executor of Beriah Maybury, the
sum of one hundred and eighty-two pounds ten shillings current money, with interest thereon from the
twenty-seventh day of November, seventeen hundred and ninety-four, out of any unappropriated money in the
treasury.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, November 19, 1800.
    RESOLVED, That George Campbell be and he is hereby placed on the pension list of this state, and that the
treasurer of the state be and he is hereby authorised to pay him fifty dollars per annum, in quarterly payments.
                                                                By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
    Which were severally read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
And also the following message:
By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, November 19, 1800.
        GENTLEMEN OF THE SENATE,
    WE feel great anxiety to bring the session to a speedy close, and believing that there will be no business of
importance to detain us, we propose, with your concurrence, to adjourn on the 29th instant.
                                                                By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
Which was read.
    The following message was prepared, read, agreed to, and sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.
By the SENATE, November 19, 1800.
        GENTLEMEN,
    FEELING equal anxiety with you to put as speedy an end to the session as the indispensable business of it
will admit, and save an unnecessary expence to the state, we accede to your proposition of adjourning on the
twenty-ninth instant.
                                                                By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
The senate adjourns till to-morrow morning 10 o'clock.

T    H    U    R    S    D    A    Y,    November 20, 1800.

    THE senate met.  Present the same members as on yesterday, except John Chesley, Esquire, who is indisposed.
Charles Ridgely, of Hampton, Esquire, appeared in the senate.  The proceedings of yesterday were read.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers a bill, entitled, An act authorising Cornelius Howard Gist, late 
collector of Baltimore county, to complete his collections, endorsed; " By the house of delegates, November
" 20, 1800:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, November 20, 1800:  Read the second time by especial order and will pass.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk."
A bill, entitled, A supplement to the act, entitled, An act for the relief of the poor of Caroline county, endorsed;
" By the house of delegates, November 20, 1800:  Read the first and second time by especial order and
" will pass.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk."
A bill, entitled, An act to alter and change the time of holding the county courts of Baltimore and Washington
counties, a bill, entitled, An act to confirm the proceedings of the levy court of Talbot county respecting a
road therein mentioned, severally endorsed; " By the house of delegates, November 19, 1800:  Read the first
" time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, November 20, 1800:  Read the second time by especial order and will pass.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk."
And also the following resolution:

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, November 20, 1800.
    RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised to pay unto David Kerr,
of Talbot county, the sum of five pounds three shillings and eight-pence halfpenny the amount of improvements
