On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill for ascertaining
titles to land in certain cases, and for facilitating
the tracing of titles in general. ORDERED, That Mr. Johnson, Mr.
Harwood and Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, be
a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
Mr. Montgomery, from the committee, delivers to the
speaker a bill, entitled, An act to aid and amend
defects in the records, papers and proceedings, in the register of wills
office of Harford county; which was read
the first and second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate
by the clerk.
Mr. Johnson, from the committee, delivers to the
speaker a bill, entitled, An act to appoint an agent for the
year one thousand eight hundred and one; which was read the first time
and ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, from the committee, delivers
to the speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of the
mayor and city council of Baltimore, beg leave to
report, that they have taken the same into their consideration, and are
of opinion that the prayer thereof is
reasonable, and ought to be granted, and beg leave to submit the following
resolution:
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore do
pay, out of any unappropriated money, to the mayor
and city council of Baltimore, the sum of two thousand dollars, to
be applied by the said corporation to the relief
of such persons as are or may be in a suffering condition from the effects
of the yellow fever which has
lately prevailed in said city.

Which was read.
A petition from Michael Fenwick, of Saint-Mary's county,
praying that the land on which the tobacco warehouse,
known by the name of Cole's Warehouse, stands, may be condemned, and a
mode fixed for the valuation
thereof, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Leigh, Mr. Neale and
Mr. Hebb, to consider and report
thereon.
Mr. Cresap, of Michael, from the committee, delivers
to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to dispose of the
surplus lots in Allegany county, westward of Fort Cumberland; which was
read the first time and ordered to lie
on the table.
The report on the petition of sundry inhabitants of
Frederick and Baltimore counties, was read the second
time, concurred with, and leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto.
ORDERED, That the committee appointed
on said petition prepare and bring in the same.
The bill for incorporating the methodist episcopal churches,
known by the name of The Light-street and Old-town
Methodist Churches, in the city of Baltimore, in the State of Maryland,
was read the second time by
especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
Mr. Neale, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Michael
Fenwick, of Saint-Mary's county, report, that
they have taken the same under their consideration, and are of opinion
that the prayer thereof is reasonable, and
that a law ought to pass pursuant thereto.

The bill for opening a road leading from the town
of Bladensburgh, in Prince-George's county, to the city of
Washington, until it intersects the present road at or near the district
line of Columbia, was read the second
time by especial order and passed.
Mr. Quynn, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of John Jarvis;
which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
On the second reading of the bill relating to the allowance
of the justices of the orphans courts, justices of the
levy courts, and commissioners of the tax, in the several counties of this
state, the question was put, That the
following be received as an amendment tot he said bill? " Provided
always, and be it enacted, That after the
first day of April next, it shall not be lawful for any one person to hold
an appointment in any two of the departments
aforesaid, any thing in any law to the contrary notwithstanding."
