VOTES and PROCEEDINGS, November Session, 1800.
THE committee to whom was referred the petitions
of Andrew Bruce, Archibald Arnold and George Sap,
of Allegany county, report, that they have taken the same into consideration,
and are of opinion the prayer of
the petitioners ought not to be granted.

Which was read.
A petition from William Cahall, of Caroline county,
praying the levy court may be authorised to levy a sum
of money on the said county for the support of himself and family,
was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Orrell,
Mr. Clarke and Mr. Douglas, to consider and report thereon.
A petition from David Kerr, of Talbot county, praying
a return of a certain sum of money paid into the
treasury for improvements on a tract of land called Glasserton, was
preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Edmondson,
Mr. Chapman and Mr. Denny, to consider and report thereon.
A petition from Basil Dorsey, and others, of Frederick
county, praying a confirmation of their titles to certain
lands, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Shriver, Mr. Kemp and
Mr. Nelson, to consider and report
thereon.
Mr. Benjamin Dashiell, a delegate returned for Somerset
county, and Mr. Thomas Mason, a delegate returned
for Caroline county, appeared, and after qualifying in the mode prescribed
by the constitution and form of government,
and taking the oath to support the constitution of the United States,
took their seats in the house.
Mr. Orrell, from the committee, delivers to the
speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition
of William Cahall, of Caroline county, report, that they
have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion the prayer
of said petitioner is founded on propriety,
and therefore ought to be granted.

Which was read.
Mr. Nelson, from the committee, delivers to the
speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition
of Richard Butler, of Frederick county, report, that
they have taken the same into consideration, and the allegations therein
stated appearing to be true, are of
opinion that the petitioner is entitled to depreciation of pay, as
deputy-quartermaster of Frederick county,
from the 14th September, 1779, to the 15th of March, 1780, amounting
to the sum of £. 52 7 101/2, with
interest thereon from the aforesaid 15th of March, 1780, to the 15th
October, 1800; they therefore recommend
the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore
pay to Richard Butler, of Frederick county, or order,
the sum of one hundred and twelve pounds one shilling and three-pence three
farthings, being the amount of
the depreciation, and interest, due him on his pay as deputy-quartermaster
at Frederick-town, in Frederick
county.

to join the committee appointed
by your house, for the examination of engrossed bills.

The bill to settle and ascertain the salary of the members
of the council for the ensuing year, was read the
second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
On motion, Leave given to bring in further supplementary
act to the act, entitled, An act to streighten and
amend the public roads in Harford county, and for other purposes.
ORDERED, That Mr. Street, Mr. Montgomery
and Mr. Bond, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
Mr. McPherson, from the committee, delivers to
the speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of James
Graham, of Charles county, report, that they
have had the same under their consideration, and find that his case is
provided for by an act of assembly, on application
to the chancellor.

the levy court for Baltimore county, the bill to revive and
aid the proceedings of the orphans court of Saint-Mary's county, severally
