Maryland Ss By his Excellency The Capta: Generall
Whereas Complainte hath beene made unto me by Wm: Tompson
that he Comeing up in A Sloope into this Province intending
here to Seate & inhabite, but not to trade or Carry out any
tobacco out of the Province did not intend to make entry of
his said Sloope (as indeed he needed not) but only to have
acquainted you with his Intentions and given you bonds
that if he Shoulld at any time Carry out any tobacco in
his said Sloope he shoulld first make entry of his said Sloope
with the officer appointed for that purpose for the time being
yett you Demanding him to make entry & Imediate payment
of 437lb: of tobacco which he not being Capable to doe you have
seized the said Sloope ; / ;
You are hereby Ordered and Comanded to Deliver the
said Sloope with all things that were in her or belonging
to her at the time of such your seizure of her Safe and in
good Condicon unto the said Wm: Tompson or his order upon
sight hereof And then take bond of the said Tompson and
Security to make entry of the said vessell before he shall carey
out any tobacco in her he payeing you only for the makeing
the said bond of this you are not to fayle as you will
answer the Contrary at your perill Given under my
hand and Seale this fifth day of September 1672
