92 ADDRESSES AND STATE PAPERS

Q. Governor, are you satisfied with the speed of the Attorney Gen-
eral's investigation of the prison system?

A. Yes, I'm satisfied with the speed of it.

Q. Was Miss Blum's dismissal recommended in the last Burch report?

A. I think you would have to ask the Attorney General that. I'm not
going to comment on what was in the interim reports. I think it's
best that it be left to his comment, because he did the investigation
and is in possession of the detailed information, which I don't have.

Q. Governor, do you have a pet legislation?

A. Pet legislation? Only the administration programs that we're
pushing and I guess if I had to designate a pet, it would be the tax
reform program.

Q. Governor, one more question? People in Baltimore were disap-
pointed that Dashner wasn't reappointed to the liquor board. Would
you discuss that?

A. No comment. I think it doesn't deserve a comment.

STATEMENT ON AGREEMENT TO END
BALTIMORE TUGBOAT STRIKE

March 9, 1967

After intensive negotiations during the past several days the union
and management negotiating teams have reached accord on a recom-
mended settlement to end the 148-day tugboat strike.

The agreement, subject to ratification by the union membership,
will be reduced to writing by a subcommittee of both parties and pre-
sented to the union membership for approval at the earliest possible
moment.

I am delighted that the difficult issues which have divided the par-
ties during this lengthy dispute have been apparently resolved. I com-
mend both parties for their cooperation and their willingness to con-
tinue negotiations in the face of what seemed to be insurmountable
difficulties.
