NEWS CONFERENCE 9

my personal start and in appointments I will have to make before the
summer. But I have received a great many applications, as you must
be aware, and we are processing and categorizing those so that I can
review them a little later on.

Q. Are the applications both Republican and Democrat?

A. We don't even designate which party they belong to. We're merely
interested in their background.

Q. Governor Tawes said in a news conference not too long ago that
one of the biggest problems that he faced was the fact that so many
people were coming in to see him looking for jobs. Do you find that

Agnew going to change the decor of the State House?

A. That's another subject that we haven't gotten to. It has to go low
on the list of priorities. I mean the Governor's house.

Q. Could you give us an idea of the other fields that you have in
mind for these program executives? You named Mr. Cole for education.
In general, what other fields did you have in mind?

A. It's a good question and it's a question that I'm not going to try
to avoid, but I'm simply going to indicate to you that it is a very flex-
ible situation now because with 204 State agencies of many possible
groupings we haven't decided on just what groupings are appropriate.
And that's one of the reasons for the Governor's Commission on
