NEWS CONFERENCE IS

Q. Do you expect that the difference in parties will affect your deci-
sion to make him your top legal adviser?

A. I think it would be unrealistic to think that, on matters that may
have political overtones, Mr. Burch would be consulted as freely as
if he were of the same political party.

Q. Does that mean that you have your own legal staff?

A. Not necessarily my own legal staff. It means that I will have my
own legal advisers.

Q. When is that going to be?

A. Well, that is pretty hard to say at this point. I have got some very
good friends in the legal profession. One of them was my campaign
adviser, Mr. George White. I have a very high regard for his opinion.
He will not be a part of my administration in the sense of a paid
member, but I'm certainly going to consult him about legal matters.

Q. Mr. Agnew, getting back to this Bay bridge question. Does Mr.
Wolff have any ideas, or has he volunteered any ideas on a second Bay

cause my background is that of a lawyer. Certainly Mr. Dobbin, in
the financial field, is a close friend. There are many other friends I
have. But I don't think there are any that I could say I lean upon to
the extent that I call them about every decision I'm going to make.

Q. Mr. Agnew, do you feel that your relationship will be harmonious
with Mr. Anderson in Baltimore County as a subdivision?

A. I would like very much to make it a very harmonious relationship.
I understand from firsthand information some of the problems Mr.
Anderson has, and I would like to help him as much as I can with
them.

Q. Mr. Agnew, I would like to ask about this political thing a little
further. In view of the fact that you're a Republican in an otherwise
Democratic state, do you fear that most of the decisions that you will
