1724, ch. 10.

An Act entitled An Act to repeal Part of an Act, entitled, c An Act repealing
    Part of an Act laying an imposition on Negroes, and on several Sorts of Liquors
    imported, and also on Irish Servants; and to prevent the Importing too great a
    Number of Irish Papists into this Province.  And to lay a Duty upon Rum,
    Spirits, Wine and Brandy, imported into this Province from Pennsylvania, or
    the Three Lower Counties on Delaware, called New-Castle, Kent and Sussex.

    N.B. This Act (having first repealed that Part of the Act of 1724, ch. 10, which imposed a
Duty of 3 d. per Gallon on Rum, Spirits, Wine and Brandy, imported by Land from Pennsylvania,
and which was appropriated to the defraying the Charges of the Public) establishes the
following Duties, viz.
    Nº 1.  On all Rum, Spirits, Wine, or Brandy, imported by Land from Pennsylvania,
        to be paid down on Entry, before Importation, to some Sheriff or
        Naval Officer within this Province, or Security to be given for the Payment
        within 3 Months from obtaining a Permit to import the same,        Three Pence,
    Nº 2.  An Excise over and above the aforesaid 3 d.  per Gallon, to be paid or              } per Gallon
        secured as above mentioned, on all Rum, Spirits, or Brandy, imported under
        the Quantity of 50 Gallons, of         ----        ----        ----        ----        Four Pence,
    Nº 3.  The like Duty on all Wine imported, in any Quantity less than Twenty-five
        Gallons, of        ----        ----        ----        ----        ----        ----               Six Pence,
Which several Duties, together with a Moiety of all the Fines imposed upon Breaches of this
Act, were applied to the sinking of the 40000 l. granted by the Act of 1756, ch. 5, &c.
    This Act was to continue in Force 3 Years, and thence to the End of the next succeeding
Session, and consequently expired the 24th April 1762.
 
At a Session of ASSEMBLY begun and held at the
    City of Annapolis, on the 22d Day of November, 
   
and ended the 24th Day of December, in the 8th
    Year of the Dominion of the Right Honourable
    FREDERICK, absolute Lord and Proprietary of the
   Provinces of Maryland and Avalon, Lord Baron of

    Baltimore, &c.  Annoq; Domini 1758:  The following
    Laws were Enacted.

An Act continuing an Act, entitled, An Act for amending the Staple of Tobacco,
    for preventing Frauds in his Majesty's Customs., and for the Limitation of Officers
    Fees; and also one other Act, entitled,
A Supplementary Act to the Act, entitled,
    An Act for amending the Staple of Tobacco, for preventing Frauds in his
    Majesty's Customs, and for the Limitation of Officers Fees; also one other Act,

    entitled, An additional Supplementary Act to the Act, entitled, An Act for
    amending the Staple of Tobacco, for preventing Frauds in his Majesty's Customs,
    and for the Limitation of Officers Fees; and also one other Act, entitled,
An
    Act for the Relief of Inspectors, and Owners of Tobacco, ad Others, who have
    suffered by Means of extraordinary Rains and high Tides, and other Defects in

        continued, &c. in full Force, until the 1st Day of December 1763.

An act continuing an Act, entitled, An ACt for the Relief od such Persons as
    cannot find Surety for their Appearance, to testify as a Witness against any Person
    Arrested, Accused, or Prosecuted, for any Criminal Matter.  Lib.
