CHAP. XVIII.
Passed 29th
October 1742.
An act for dividing Prince George's Parish, in Prince George's County, and
    for erecting a Parish out of the same, called by the Name of All-Saints Parish.
    Lib.

    N.B. 
By this Act,  (1.)  From and after the 22d November next, all that part of Prince George's
Parish, beginning at Great-Sennecar Run Mouth, and running by and with the said Run to the
Head thereof; from thence with a due East Line to the Head of one of the Draughts of Patuxent
River, and so binding all around as the Upper Part of the said County is bounded; shall be
separated, constituted, and created into a Parish, to be called by the Name of All-Saints Parish;
and is hereby adjudged, deemed, and taken, to be a separate and distinct parish.  (2.)  The
Free-holders impowered to elect Vestry-men and Church-wardens, and to build and found a 
Church therein:  and to have, hold, and enjoy all Privileges and Advantages that are held and
enjoyed by any other Parish within this Province.

 
CHAP. XIX.
Ditto. An act to divide Somerset County, and to erect a new County on the Sea-board
    Side, by the Name of
Worcester.  Lib. B.L.C.  fol. 267.

By this ACt,  (1.)  After the 10th December next, the Bounds of Somerset County shall
contain as followeth:  Beginning at Watkins's Point, and from thence running up Pocomoke Bay to
the Mouth of Pocomoke River, up and with the said River tot he Mouth of Dividing-Creek; thence
up the Westermost Side of the said Creek, to the Bridges called, Denstone's Bridges; and from
thence West tot he main Road called Parahawkin Road; thence up, and with the said Road to
John Caldwell senior's Saw-Mill; thence up and with the said Road, over Cox's Branch, to
Broad-Creek Bridge, and down the said Branch and Creek into Nanticoke River; thence down the
said River with Dorchester County to the Mouth thereof; and from thence, including all the
Islands formerly deemed to be in Somerset County, to the Beginning called Watkins's Point.  And
that after the said 10th December, all the remaining Part of what is now reputed to be within the
County of Somerset, to the Extent of this Province, shall be, and is hereby constituted into a
County, and shall be nominated, called and known by the Name of Worcester County; and the
Inhabitants thereof, shall have and enjoy equal Privileges with the other Counties of this Province,
in sending Delegates to the General Assembly, having County Courts, Sheriffs, Justices,
and other Officers and Ministers, as usual in other Counties, &c.  (2.)  Certain Commissioners
are appointed and impowered to purchase from the owners of such land in the Towns of
Princess-Anne and  Snow-Hill, not being more than one, nor less than Half an Acre, whereon to erect

a Court-house in each County; and, in case of Refusal, or Disability of the Owner to sell such
Land, to have the same valued by a Jury; and the payment of such Valuation to the Owner,
&c. or Tender thereof, shall invest the Justices, and their Successors, with an Estate in Fee-simple,
for the Use of such County Court, for ever.  (3.)  The Justices impowered to contract
for the building, and cause a Court-house to be built in their respective Counties on the said
Lands, and to raise Sums, not exceeding 1000 l. in each County, to pay for the Lands and
Buildings, by three equal Yearly Assessments.  (4.)  The Justices of Somerset County, to sell by
Vendue to the highest Bidder, the present Court-house, and Lands belonging to the said County;
Half the produce whereof to be paid to the Justices of Worcester County, and by them applied

to the County Charge; the other Half to be in like Manner applied by the Justices of Somerset
County, to defray the Public Charge of that County.  (5.)  Worcester County Court to be held
on the First Tuesdays of the Months of March, June, August, and November, Yearly; and the
Assizes in the said County to begin, and be held on the Thursdays before the Assizes in Somerset
County; and the Assizes and County Courts of Somerset County, after the last Day of November
next, shall be held at Princess-Anne Town aforesaid.

 
CHAP. XX.
Ditto. An Act encouraging the raising of Copper Ore, erecting of Stamping Mills,
    Copper Works, and making of Copper within this Province.  Lib. B.L.C.  fol.

    Viz. 
For the Encouragement of John Digges, who had undertaken a Copper-Work,  (1.)  By
making all his Labourers and Workmen, constantly employed therein, Levy-free for 7 Years.
(2.)  By exempting them from Working upon High-Roads or Bridges, and from Attendance on
Musters, &c.

 
CHAP.  XXI.
Ditto. An Act for raising a Duty of Three Half-pence Sterling per Hogshead, on all
    Tobacco exported out of this Province, for the Use of the Governor.  Lib.  B.L.C.

CHAP. XXII.
Ditto. An act to enable the Rector, Vestry-men and Church-wardens, for the Time being,
    of St. Anne's Parish, in Anne-Arundel County, to Lease certain Lots in the
    City of Annapolis, in Manner, and the other uses therein mentioned.  Lib. B.L.C.
    fol. 271.  REP.
   
This Act being found ineffectual to the Purposes intended, viz. to encourage Tenants to build
        upon the Church Lots; it was repealed by a new Act, 1747, ch. 24.
