 XXIV.
    N.B.  This Act was particularly excepted out of the several general repealing Acts of 1699,
ch. 46; 1700, ch. 8; and 1704, ch. 77; nor hath it been repealed in any particular; but it is
in great Part rendered Obsolete (such Clauses excepted as relate to private Property obtained under
it) by the Charter, granted to the City of Annapolis, dated the 2d November 1708, and confirmed,
&c. by an Act of Assembly 1708, ch. 7.

A Supplementary Act to the * Act for payment and Assessment of the Public Charge
    of this Province.  EXP.

1697. At a Session of ASSEMBLY, begun and held at the
    Port of Annapolis, on the 26th Day of May, in the
    9th Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord WILLIAM
    the Third, of England, Scotland, France and 
    Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, Annoq;
    Domini
1697, and ended the 11th Day of June,
    were Enacted the following Laws.

CHAP. I.
Passed 11th
June 1697.
An Act for the confirming Titles of Land, given to the Use of the Churches and
    several Chapels within this Province, impowering the Commissioners of the respective
    Counties, and Vestries of the respective Parishes, to take up certain Parcels of
    Land for the use of the same.  Lib.

A new Act made 1704, ch. 37.

 
CHAP. II.
Ditto. An Additional Act to the Act of Assembly, intitled, * An Act for speedy Justice
    for small Debts.  EXP.

Ditto. An Act ascertaining how and when Execution shall be granted for public Officers
    fees.  EXP.
For 3 Years, or to the End of the next Session.

Ditto. An Act for the better enabling Mrs. Catherine Herman, Widow and Relict of
    Col.
Casparus Augustine Herman, Deceased, to sell Land in the Port of Annapolis,

Preamble. WHEREAS it hath been represented to this present General Assembly,
that sundry Court-Houses within this province, for the better
Conveniency of the respective Counties, have been built upon
Lands whereunto the Counties could make no legal Claim or Challenge; the
Owners thereof either refusing to make Sale, or otherwise incapacitated of so
doing, be Reason of Non-age, or being beyond the Seas; which Evil if not
prevented, will be very prejudicial to such Counties who have already laid out
and expended considerable Sums of Tobacco in erecting and building such
Court-Houses aforesaid.
