The report was then ordered to be engrossed by a vote
of 67 to 16.
Mr. Brewer, of Baltimore, offered a resolution of thanks
to the Individual Enterprise Company for the tender of
the S. J. Pentz to convey President Johnson and his party
to Annapolis. Adopted.
The Convention then, at 3 P. M., adjourned.

On motion of Mr. Ritchie, it was
Ordered, That when this Convention adjourn, it be to
meet on Monday at 1CM/2 A. M.
The report of the judiciary committee was taken up,
when
Mr. Merrick moved to postpone its further considera-
tion until Monday, which, after some discussion, was dis-
agreed to.
Section 1 was then read and passed over without
amendment.
Section 2 was read, as follows:
Section 2. The judges of all of the said courts shall be
citizens of the State of Maryland, and qualified voters
thereof, and shall have resided therein not less than five
years, and not less than one year next preceding their
election or appointment in the judicial circuit, as the case
may be, for which they may be respectively elected or ap-
pointed. They shall not be less than thirty years of age
at the time of their election or appointment, and shall be
selected from those who have been admitted to practice
law in this State, and who are distinguished for integrity,
wisdom and sound legal knowledge.
Mr. Merrick moved to strike out the words, "as the
