EVENING SESSION, AUGUST 16, 1867.
The Convention met.
Present at the call of the roll the following members :
Messrs. Carmichael, (President,) Alvey, Archer, Aus-
tin, Barnes, Barry, Bateman, Bell, Brent, Brewer, of Mont-
gomery, Brooke, Brown, Buchanan, Carter, Chambers, Cos-
grove, Cover, Cunningham, Denson, Dent, Devries, Dob-
bin, Dorsey, Duvall, Emack, Evans, Farnandis, Finley,
Ford, Franklin, Galt, George, Giddings, Gill, Goldsbor-
ough, of Talbot, Groome, Hall, Hammond, Hardcastle, Hay-
den, Hoblitzell, Hodson, Hollyday, Horsey, of Frederick,
Howard, Howison, Hubbard, Ireland, Jamison, Janvier, John-
son, Jones, Keating, Lee, Longwell, Mackubin, Manro, Mar-
bury, Maulsby, McCormick, McKaig, McMaster, McPher-
son, Merrick, Merryman, Mitchell, Morris, Motter., Murray,

The Convention then resumed the consideration of the un-
finished business of the morning session,
Being the Report of the Committee upon Public Works and
Corporations, title, Article—Public Works.
The question recurring upon the amendment submitted by
Mr. Wilkinson, as a substitute for the whole,
It was rejected.
The question then recurred upon the substitute submitted
by Mr. Barnes,
Pending the consideration of which,
Mr. Merrick moved the previous question.
The question then being,
"Shall the previous question be now put?"
It was sustained.
The question then recurring upon the adoption of the sub-
stitute,
Mr, Carter demanded the yeas and nays.
