Pending the consideration of which,
On motion of Mr. Hall,
The rules were suspended, (two-thirds of all the members
present concurring,) when
Mr. Hall submitted the following order :
Ordered, That the Committee on the Legislative Depart-
ment report to the Convention the expediency of abolishing
the office of "State Pension Commissioners," created by the
act of 1867, chapter 385, and of prohibiting the Legislature
from establishing any general pension system in this State.
Pending the consideration of which,
The hour having arrived for taking up the special order of
the day,
Being the Reports entitled to a third reading,
On motion of Mr. Giddings,
The further consideration of the order of the day was in-
formally postponed.
The Convention then resumed the consideration of the order
submitted by Mr. Hall.
The question being upon its adoption,
Mr. Denson demanded the yeas and nays.
