The President appointed the following committee under
the above order:
Messrs. Ford, Merryman, Wickes, Starr and Silver.
Mr. George submitted the following order:
Ordered, That the Committee on Education be instructed
to inquire into the expediency of abolishing the office of Su-
perintendent of Public Instruction, and substituting there-
for four educational districts, one of which shall be the city
of Baltimore, the other three as may in the judgment of the
Committee be advisable; each district to be entitled to a su-
perintendent; and whether it be politic to make said super-
intendent elective by the people, or subject to appointment
by the Governor, or otherwise;

On motion of Mr. George,
Referred to the Committee upon Education.
On motion of Mr. Wethered,
At 2 1/2 o'clock, the Convention adjourned.
