Mr. Hollyday asked leave of absence from the sessions
of the Convention to enable him to attend to his" harvest.
Pending the consideration of which,
The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the day,
being the Report of the Committee upon Education, the Con-
vention proceeded to the consideration thereof ;
Pending which ;
Mr. Kennedy moved to postpone the further consideration
thereof for thirty minutes.
Mr. Ritchie moved to postpone the further consideration
thereof, until the subject under consideration be disposed
of;
Decided in the negative.
The question then recurring upon the motion submitted by
Mr. Kennedy ;
It was sustained ;
And the further consideration of the order of the day was
postponed for thirty minutes.
The Convention then resumed the consideration of the mo-
tion submitted by Mr. Hollyday, to grant him leave of ab-
sence from the sessions of the Convention ;

It was decided in the negative.
Mr. Wallace moved a suspension of the Rules to enable
him to submit an Order;
Decided in the negative.
The Convention then resumed the consideration of the ord-
er of the day being the Report of the Committee upon Edu-
cation.
The question recurring upon the amendment submitted by
Mr. George, viz.:
Sec. 2. The public Schools of the city of Baltimore, shall
be a separate organization under the control of the Mavor
and City Council of said city ;"
It was rejected.
The question then recurring upou the amendment submit
ted by Mr. Franklin, viz. :
Omit all after the word "and" in third line, and insert
