Severally referred to the Committee upon the Judiciary
Department.
Mr. Pleasants submitted the following order :
Ordered, That it is the sense of this Convention, that the
question of removing the disability heretofore imposed on ne-
groes, to testify in Courts of Justice, ought to be settled by
this Convention, and that the Constitution now being framed
ought to contain a provision removing such disability ;
Pending the consideration of which,
Mr. Pleasants moved the previous question,
The question being,
"Shall the main question be now put ?"
Mr. Wickes demanded the yeas and nays,
