In Council January 19th. 1790
By the Petition of John Duffey of Baltimore County it is represented to the Board that
he has been fined by the Criminal Court for the said County in the Sum of three pounds Current
Money for an assault (as appears by a Court transcript accompanying the petition) committed
on a certain Francis Vintree, that the fees arizing on the Proceeding against him, added to the
fine, make the Sum for which he is liable, upwards of eight pounds, and that being unable to pay
the same, he now lies in confinement, And the said Petitioner being recommended as an Object
of Clemency by several inhabitants of Baltimore, and by three of the Justices of the Court
aforesaid, The Board in consideration of his poverty, do direct that on the express Condition of
the said Duffey's paying all the legal fees due on the Prosecution, the above mentioned fine of
three pounds be remitted.

Ordered that the western Shore Treasurer pay to William Harwood Seventy five pounds
for one years Salary as Clerk of the house of Delegates due the 1st. of November last.
Commissions issued to Nicholas Worthington, Elijah Robeson, Samuel Harrison, Allen
Quynn, Samuel Harrison of Rich'd., Richard Harrison, Thomas Tongue, John Burgess, John
Brice, Richard Harwood. Robert Couden, Dennis Griffith, Elisha Warfield, William Camp-
bell, William Hall 3d., James Disney, Charles Alexander Warfield, James Kelso, John Sprigg
Belt, Thomas Cole and Thomas Hobbs appointed Justices of the Peace for Ann Arundel
County.
Nicholas Worthington, Allen Quynn, John Brice, Richard Harwood, Robert Couden,
William Campbell and William Hall 3d. appointed Justices of the Orphans Court for Ann
Arundel County.
The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.
