70 "Journal of the Council"

John Jonathan Spence formerly a Subject of the King of Great Britain, appeared before
the Board, and voluntarily made repeated and subscribed a Declaration of his belief in the
Christian Religion, and also took repeated and Subscribed the Oath prescribed by the "Act
for Naturalization" wherefore he is now become a Subject of this State.

Commission issued to Samuel Chase, John Moale, Otho Holland Williams, Lyde Good-
win, and George Salmon appointed Justices of the Court of Oyer and Terminer and Goal
delivery pursuant to the directions of an Act entitled "An Act for the more effectual
punishment of Criminals," passed November Session last.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning. [p. 131]

Tuesday 29th. December 1789

The Council met.

Present as on Yesterday.

The Board went into the consideration of the Commission to be allowed Capt. William
Campbell as agent under the Act of last Session entitled "An Act respecting the Collectors
of the public taxes since the first of January seventeen hundred and eighty three," when it was
Resolved that he be allowed two and an half per Cent Commission on the Sums that shall
come into the Treasury of the western shore by means of his Agency.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Wednesday 30th. December 1789

The Council met.

Present the Hon'ble. John Kilty

James Brice

John Davidson Esquires

Robert Denny appointed Auditor General by the house of Delegates 'till the return of
Christopher Richmond, produces a certificate of his qualification and lodges a Bond with
Frederick Green and John Davidson Securities for the faithful performance of the duties
of his Office.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Thurdsay 31st December 1789
The Hon'ble John Kilty and James Brice Esqrs. attended.

Friday 1st. January 1790

The Council met.

Present the Hon'ble. John Kilty
