The Council met.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to William Holliday Five pounds, one shil-
ling allowed him by the Board for going Express to Charles and Saint Marys Counties for
Sheriffs returns of Electors,
That the said Treasurer pay to Rich'd Flemming five pounds for riding Express to
Frederick for W. Potts an Elector.
[p. 169] Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Benjamin Cawood agreeably
to the "Act to adjust the Debts due from this State" Eleven pounds eighteen shillings per
Account passed by the Auditor the 4th instant—and five pounds eighteen shillings, and nine
pence half penny per Account passed by the Auditor this Day.
In Council December 6th. 1792
The Petition of Margaret Cusick and Mary McVea was laid before the Board setting
forth that they were Severally indicted at the last Baltimore County Criminal Court for selling
Cyder and Suffering the same to be drank about their House without licence for that purpose,
and thereupon fined, that their Offences were committed in consequence of their believing that
the Law did not extend to liquors made or Manufactured in this Country and that their extreme
indigence disables them from paying the said fines, and Whereas Samuel Chase, George Salmon,
Lyde Goodwin and George Goldsmith Presbury Esquires, Justices of the Criminal Court have
recommended the Petitioners to the Clemency of the Executive on account of their poverty, the
Board in Consideration of the very indigent Circumstances of the said Petitioners do order
and direct that their [p. 170] respective fines be remitted on their severally paying all
Costs arising on the said Prosecutions.
