Thursday 27th. October 1791

The Council met.

Present as on yesterday.

Summonses issued to Doctr. John Parnham to be and appear before the Governor and
Council on this Day to testify on the Hearing of the Complaint of Charles Mankin, Benjamin
Cawood and William Brawner that the election for Sheriffs of Charles County was not made
fairly and freely agreeably to the Constitution and Form of Government.

The Board proceeded farther in the examination of Witnesses in support of the facts
set forth in the Petition against the Election in Charles County for Sheriffs.

The Council adjourned 'till 3 o'clock.

The Council met.

The Board proceeded to examine Witnesses on the part of Mr. Simms, the Sheriff
elect, in support of the election in Charles County for Sheriffs.
The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 9 o'clock.

Friday 28th. October 1791

The Council met.
Present as on yesterday.

The Board proceeded farther in the examination of Witnesses in support of the election
in Charles County for Sheriffs.

The Council adjourned till 3 o'clock.

The Council met.

The Board proceeded farther in the examination of Witnesses relative to the Election in
Charles County for Sheriffs.

Joseph Turner, Thomas Brooke, Leonard Dixon, John Crisman and Samuel Pickerell
proved four days attendance each, William Jones, William Downes, Jeremiah Dyer, Francis
Thomas Clements, Basil Smith and John A. Dixon proved five Days attendance each as
Witnesses on the part of the Petitioners against the Election for Sheriffs of Charles County—
and Henry H. Chapman, Henry Massey Hanson, Francis Digges and Henry Clements proved
five Days attendance each—William B. Smoot of Thos. proved four days and Doctr. John
Parnham two Days attendance as Witnesses on the part of the Sheriff elect of said County.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 9 o'clock.

Saturday 29th. October 1791

The Council met.
Present as on yesterday.
