They also proceeded to the Appointment of a fit and proper Person
to compleat and finish the Transactions and Sales of the late In-
tendant of the Revenue and of the Commissioners for Confiscated
British Property and to take into his Possession and care all Books
and papers respecting the same and to settle with the Purchasers of
the said Property and to make Sale of all Confiscated British Prop-
erty that remains unsold, under the Act aforesaid When Daniel of
St. Thomas Jenifer Esquire was appointed.

[p 119] They also proceeded to the appointment of some fit and
proper Person to treat with the Indians entitled under any Act of
Assembly to any Lands in Dorchester County for the purchasing
the said Lands or any part thereof on Behalf of this State and to
agree with them on the terms of the said Purchase for a certain
annual Sum to be paid to the said Indians and to sell the same at
Auction in Lotts under the said Act and Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer
Esquire was appointed.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.

Friday 21st. April 1786

The Council met.

Sam'l. T. Wright Esquires.

Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Samuel Hurst
Seven pounds specie agreeably to the "Act to adjust the Debts due
from this State" for Account passed by the Aud'r. Gen'l.

Commissions issued to the following Persons appointed Courts of
Appeals in Virtue of the "Act to ascertain the value of the Land in
the several Counties of this State for the purpose of laying the public
Assessment:

St. Mary's—Henry Greenfield Southern, James Jordan and William
Hammersly

Charles—Warren Dent, Josias Hawkins and Thomas Hanson Mar-
shall

Calvert—Joseph Sprigg, Walter Smith and William Ireland

Prince George's—William Bowie Senr., Luke Marbury and Thomas
Duckett

Queen Anne's—William Hemsley, Vachel Downes and Rich'd. Ben-
nett Charmichael
The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.
