he had sold Spiritous Liquors some little time before the Court; and
was informed by several of his neighbors that he might do it with
propriety, provided at the next Court he would take out and pay for a
License, that he accordingly applied to the adjourned Court and ob-
tained a License commencing March 1784 and to continue 'till August
following, which he conceived was fully complying with every requi-
site, that he is in low Circumstances, has a large Family to maintain
and but little other Dependance for their support than his Labour,
and the levying the said fines would be highly distressing to him
and his family, prays they may be remitted, and five of the Justices
of the said County [p 10] having certified that the facts
stated in his Petition are true, and recommending a Remission of his
said fines, this Board are of Opinion that they be remitted, and do
order and direct a Remission accordingly.
