Saturday October 6th. 1787

The Council met.
Present

The Honorable James Brice

John Kilty

John Davidson Esquires.

Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to John Shaw
Fifty pounds Current money to be by him expended in purchasing
fire wood for the General Assembly and public Offices and to be Ac-
counted for.

That the said Treasurer pay to Francis Holland Thirty Pounds,
twelve Shillings and nine pence Specie agreeably to the "Act to
adjust the debts due from this State" per Account passed by the
Auditor General due the first of May last.

Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to George Bear
thirty five pounds Current Money due him for taking care of the
Magazine near Frederick Town per Account passed by the Auditor
General.

Robert Hammitt of Frederick County by his Petition to the
Board, sets forth that he hath rented at a very high rate, a ferry on
Monocacy river, and that through Ignorance of the Law, he pro-
ceeded to keep the same without procuring licence, in consequence
of which he was presented and fined by the Court of said County in
the sum of five pounds Current money, a transcript of which pro-
ceeding Accompanied the petition. The Petitioner represents that lie
has a numerous family whom he is barely able to Support, and who
must greatly suffer by the levying the fine aforesaid, and ten of the
Justices of the said County having declared their Opinion that the
facts set forth are true, and having recommended a Remission of the
