Francis Johnson late of St Maryes County was
Attached to Answer unto George Tyte Marriner
of a plea of trespasse upon the case
And whereupon the said George Tyte by Robert
|
|
Ridgely his Attorney complaineth, that whereas he the said George
Tyte is a good faithfull honest & just man, & so from the tyme of
his nativity in the Kingdome of England & in this Province hath
well honestly & justly beheaved & demeaned himselfe, & was so
known & reputed both in England & in this Province to have behaved
& carryed himselfe & to be of a good name fame reputacon and
creditt amongst all the good people that he from tyme to either
in Bristoll or in this Province hath had occasion to deale trade
traffick or comerce with, & from tyme to tyme for this foure yeares
last past hath brought into this Province divers & considerable quan-
tities & Cargoes of goods & Mrchandizes which he hath vended &
sould to the Inhabitants of this Province, to his very great profitt
benifitt & advantage, & for the same hath bin paid in tobacco by the
Inhabitants of this Province, which he hath carryed out of this
Province into England, & there vended & sould the same to his very
great advantage, by meanes whereof he had not only procured to
himselfe a comfortable maintenance & livelyhood, but was in great
creditt fame and reputacon with most of the eminent persons as well
of the City of Bristoll where he lives, as also of this Province where
he trades & traffiques as aforesaid. Of which creditt reputacon
honesty justnes & faithfullnes of the said George Tyte divers emi-
nent & wealthy persons of the said City of Bristoll Owners of the
Shipp Maryland Mrchant of Bristoll aforesaid takeing particuler
