ing obligatory Sealed with the Seale of him the said W^m & here in
Court produced did confesse & acknowledge himselfe to owe 4 stand
justly indebted unto the said Robert the full & just Sume of ffoure
hundred pounds of tobacco to be paid to the said Robert upon de-
mand And whereas also the said William Russell upon the two &
twentieth day of October One thousand Six hundred Seventy seven
by his certaine other bill or writeing obligatory Sealed also with the
Seale of him the said W^m & here in Court produced stood bound to
the said Robert in the Sume of thirteen hundred pounds of tobacco
to be paid conveniently in the said County att or upon the tenth day
of Octob^r One thousand six hundred Seventy Eight And whereas
also the said W^m upon the twenty fifth day of Octob^r One thousand
six hundred seventy seven stood also bound to the said Robert in
the Sume of ffive hundred and Eighteen pounds of tobacco to be paid
in the County aforesaid att or upon all demands All which said sev-
erall Sumes doe in the whole amount unto the Sume of two thousand
two hundred & Eighteen pounds of tobacco Yet notwithstanding the
said W^m Russell in his life tyme nor the said Martha since his death
in her widdowhood, nor the said Leonard & Martha since their inter-
marriage the said Sume of two thousand two hundred & Eighteen
pounds of tobacco have not paid or satisfied, but the same to pay &
satisfie hath hitherto denyed & refused & still deny & refuse to pay the
same to the damage of the said Robert ffoure thousand pounds of
tobacco & thereupon he bringeth his suite
And the said Leonard & Martha by George Parker their Attorney
come & defend the force & injury when &c and say nothing in barr
of the Action of the said Robert, whereby the said Robert remain-
eth against the said Leonard & Martha thereof undefended There-
fore itt is considered by the Court here this day to witt the Seventh
day of June in the fourth yeare of the Dominion of Charles Lord

Baltemore &c Annoq Doni 1679 that the Said Robert Carvile re-
cover against the said Leonard & his wife Adm* as aforesaid as well
the Sume of two thousand two hundred & Eighteen pounds of to-
bacco debt As also five hundred fifty two pounds of tobacco costs of
suite So that Execucon thereof cease untill the tenth day of Novemb^r
next And the Defend^ts in mercy &c
