Memorandum that this prsent Court to witt the
twelfth day of ffebruary in the third yeare of the
Dominion of Charles &c came here in Court

John Burnham of Virginia Mrchant by Robert
Ridgely his Attorney & bringeth here in Court his certaine bill
against the Honble Thomas Taillor Esqr one of the Justices of this
Court of a plea of trespas upon the case
And whereupon the said John Burnham by Robert Ridgely his
Attorney complaineth, that whereas the said Thomas Taillor the
twenty fourth day of July One thousand six hundred seventy & six
bought had & received of the said John Burnham one man Negro
of the age of Sixteen yeares or thereabouts In consideracon whereof
the said Thomas Taillor did assume upon himselfe & to the said John
Burnham did faithfully promise, that he the said Thomas him the
said John for the said Negro man the Sume of twenty & five pounds
lawfull money of England would well & truely pay when thereunto
