        to imparle hereunto untill next Provinciall Court & itt is granted
        unto them, the same day is given to the said Wm likewise
          Nowhere att this day to witt the fourteenth day of June in the
        third yeare of the Dominion of Charles Lord Baltemore &c Annoq3
        Doni 1678. came the said parties by their Attorneys aforesaid And
        the said Dominick & Redmond by their said Attorney say that they
        did not assume upon themselves nor make such promise in manner
        & forme as the plt above agt them hath declared & of this they putt
        themselves upon the Countrey & the plt also Therefore itt is comanded
        the Sheriffe of St Maryes County that he cause to come here twelve
        &c by whom &c and who neither &c to recognize &c because as well
        &c Att which said foureteenth day of June in the yeare aforesaid
        came the said parties by their Attorneys aforesaid And the jurors
        impannelled being called likewise came to witt Wm Dorrington,
        Ninian Beale, Edward Williams Philip Lynes, Thomas Hinton,
        Cornelius Johnson, John Cobreath, Abraham Clarke, Wm Kent,
        James Veitch, Wm Hitchcock & John Sunderland who being elected
        tryed & sworne to say the truth in the prmisses upon their Oathe doe
        say that the said Dominick Bodkin & Redmond ffitzgerald did assume
        upon themselves in manner & forme as the pfl above agt them hath
        declared And they assesse the damage of the said plt to fifteen hun
        dred twenty one pds of tobacco Therefore itt is granted by the
        Court here that the said Wm Wells recover agt the said Dominick
        Bodkin & Redmond ffitzgerald the sume of fifteen hundred twenty
        one pds of tobacco damages by the Jurors aforesaid in forme afore
        said assessed And also thirteen hundred pds of tob costs of suite.

        Propry   Memorandum that att a Provinciall Court held the p. 637
          agt twelfth of ffebruary in the third yeare of the Do-
      Gerard Slye minion of Charles absolute Lord & Propry of &c and
                 in the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred
        seventy seven here prsent in Court in his proper person Kenelrn
        Cheseldyn Attorney Gen1' for the said Lord Propry who in this
        behalfe for the said Lord Propry followeth & exhibitteth to the
        Justices of this Court his certaine informacon agt Gerard Slye high
        Sheriffe of St Maryes County, thereby giveing the said Court to
        understand & be informed
          That whereas in the Act of Assembly made att an Assembly held
        att the Citty of St Maryes the day of in the first
        yeare of the Dominion of Charles &c & in the yeare of our Lord one
        thousand six hundred seventy six amongst other things itt was
        Enacted, that from & after the publicacon of the said Act, no Officer
        or Officers in the said Act menconed their Ministers Servants or
        Deputies by reason or colour of his or their office or Offices have
        receive or take of any person or persons directly or indirectly any
