50 Provincial Court Proceedings, 1672. Liber J J Thomas Knighton one of the Attorneys of this Court being Knighton accused for falsefying a writ out of this Cort after it was under the lesser seale of this Province & signed by the Clerke, and the said Knighton humbly Confessing such his misdemeneanor submitted himself to the mercy of the Court, who this day ordered that the said Knighton be Discharged of his place of an Attorney in this Court, and never more psume to practise in this Province, but impose no fine upon him quia pauper. John Owen George Beckwith of Calvert County made oath in open Cort, that servt to Mr Beckworth his servant John Owen absented himself from his service fifty dayes, and therefore craved Judgt agt him according to act of Assembly, and the said John Owen being prsent in Cort and the Court Comput ing the time, ordered the said John Owen to serve the said George Beckwith faithfully untill the last of January next & then to be free Jeremiah The Cort being informed that Jeremiah Harrington of St Maryes Harrington County is a pson of Evill life and Conversation and that he hath much abused his wife it being to be feared that he may murder her. It is by the Court ordered that the said Harrington remaine a pris oner in the hand of the Sheriff of St Maryes County untill he shall finde sufficient Manucaptors for his good behaviour Wittm Price Wm Price of Baltamore County being retorned for a Juror, and being called appeares, and being Drunke and not fitting to serve the Cort Comanded the Sheriff of St Maryes County to set him in the stocks for half e an hour for such his contempt. Joseph Then was Joseph OKeen called to the barre and no pson appearing OKeene to psecute Effectually the said OKeen was acquitted by pclamation, and by the Cort Discharged paying his fees. John Renny Then did Mr John Morecroft appeare to ye prsefltmt agt John Renny and time was given in ye same busines untill the next Pro vincial Cort. John Griffins John Griffen accused for hoggstealing the Indictmt not being Recog Ready, the same was referred untill the next Provincial Cort. and the said John Griffen bound in 10l sterling for his appearance then & his good abearance in the meane time & Thomas Griffin and Thomas Wynn his Manucaptors did undertake for him in the sume of five pounds sterling a peice to be leavyed &c. upon the same Condition. Tho: Wright Then also did Thomas Wright acknowledge a Recognizance in Tenne to frsecute pound sterling the psecution of ye said John Griffin the same next Cort to be leavyed &c. p. 519 Maryland ss. Memorandum that this day that is to say the first day of October in the 41th yeare of the Dominion of Caecilius &c |
