Benedict Calvert and John Ridout, Esquires, from the Upper
House, acquaint Mr. Speaker that the Governor requires the At-
tendance of the Members of the Lower House immediately in the
Council Chamber.
Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and, attended by the Members of the
Lower House, went to the Council Chamber; where his Excellency
made a Speech to both Houses, in Substance as follows.
Gentlemen of both Houses,
I HAVE only to request your Attention to the several Matters
recommended for your Deliberation at the last Meeting.
Mr. Speaker, attended by the Members of the Lower House,
returned. Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.
On Motion, ORDERED, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill
for the Regulation of the Staple of Tobacco, and for preventing
Frauds in his Majesty's Customs; and that Mr. J. Hall, Mr. Paca,
Mr. Thomas, Mr. Lloyd, Mr. Beall, Mr. Hammond, Mr. Chamber-
tone, Mr. Smallwood, Mr. So. Wright, and Mr. Earle, do prepare
and bring in the same.
The House adjourns till To-morrow Morning 9 o'Clock.
