and referred to the Consideration of the Lower House of Assembly.

The Petition of Lazarus Pumphrey was read. Ordered, That the
same be referred to the Consideration of a Committee, and that they
do examine the Matter thereof, and report the same as it shall appear
to them to the House; and M.r Worthington, M.r Johnson, M.r Chase,
M.r J. Hall, and M.r Hammond, are appointed a Committee ac-
cordingly, and they have Power to send for Persons, Papers, and
Records.
M.r Tyler brings in and delivers to M.r Speaker a Bill, entitled, An
Act to preserve the Independence of the Members of the Lower
House of Assembly. Which was read the first Time and ordered
to lie on the Table.
The Bill, entitled, An Act for the speedy Recovery of small Debts
out of Court, as read throughout; and the Question was put, that
the said Bill do pass; Resolved in the Affirmative.
