day, M.r Chase, M.r Tilghman, M.r J. Hall, M.r W Paca, M.r Allen,
M.r Bordley, M.r Worthington, M.r Dickinson, M.r Grahame, M.r
Beall, M.r N. Thomas, M.r Harrison, and M.r Wootton, do prepare
a Message to the Upper House, in Answer to their Message of this
Day by John Ridout, Esq.

William Fitzhugh, Esq; from the Upper House, delivers to M.r
Speaker, the Bill, entitled, An Act to impose a further Duty on
Negroes imported into this Province, and for the better Support
of County Schools; thus indorsed: "By the Upper House of As-
sembly, November 13.th 1770: Read the first Time, and ordered to
lie on the Table
Signed by Order U Scott Cl. Up. Ho."

And thus "By the Upper House of Assembly, November 13.th
1770: Read the second Time, by an especial Order, and will not pass.
Signed by Order U Scott Cl. Up. Ho."

On Motion, The Question was put, That it be an Instruction to
the Committee appointed to prepare an Answer to the Message of
this Day from the Upper House, by John Ridout, Esq to propose
to that House a Conference upon the Subject Matter of that Mes-
sage ? Resolved in the Negative
