Laws, and how much it would redound to the Advantage of the
Community, if the Public Roads were made more direct, and kept
in Constant Repair, your Excellency may be assured we shall co-
operate heartily in any Regulation for this Salutary purpose

The uncertainty of Our Criminal Laws requires an accurate
Review, and we agree with Your Excellency, that some precise
and explicit Criterion should be established, to prevent all Doubts
in determining what Criminal Laws are in force here
The ample Proofs your Excellency has given, on all Occasions,
of your Zeal to promote the Welfare and Happiness of the People
of this Province, afford Us the firmest Confidence that Your
Excellency will Concur, in every proper Measure that can be pro-
posed for the Public Good

Harrison, a Member Elected for Charles County, to see him Quali-
fied, who takes the Oaths to the Government appointed to be taken p. 376
by Act of Assembly, repeats and Subscribes the Abjuration and
Test, and then withdraws

His Excellency is pleased to Communicate to this House his
Answer to their Address, which follows in these Words
Gentlemen of the Upper House of Assembly.

I return you thanks for your Polite Address; the Assurances you
are pleased to give me leave no room to Doubt, but you will be
always ready to co-operate and concur with the Gentlemen of the
Lower House in every Measure calculated to promote the true
