The Supplementary Bill for amending the Staple of Tobacco, &.te
was read the second Time, and will pass; and ,was sent to the Upper
House, by M.r Grahame, and M.r Buchanan.
The Supplementary Bill to the Act, entitled, An Act for the
Direction of Sheriffs in their Offices, &a was read the second Time
and will pass.
B. Calvert, Esq from the Upper House, delivers to M.r Speaker,
the Supplementary Bill to the Act, entitled, An Act for amending
the Staple of Tobacco, &.ta Indorsed "By the Upper House of As-
sembly, December 3, 1766: Read the first Time, by an especial
Order, and will pass, leaving out the fifth and sixth Pages.
Signed by Order, U. Scott, Cl. Up. Ho."
On reading the aforesaid Alteration proposed, the first and second
Time, the House concurs therewith, and the said Bill was indorsed,
Read, and with the Alteration proposed, passed for ingrossing.
The House adjourns till the Morrow Morning at 9 of the Clock.

The House met.
A Bill, entitled, An Act for amending and repairing the Public
Roads in Baltimore and Frederick Counties was read the first
Time, and ordered to lye on the Table.
A Bill, entitled, An Act to prevent the Exportation of Flour,
Staves and Shingles, not merchantable from the Town of Balti-
more, in Baltimore County, and to regulate the Measure of Grain,
and Firewood within the said Town; was read the first Time, and
ordered to lye on the Table.

A Bill, entitled, An Act concerning the Name of John Beale
Bordley, was read the first Time, and Ordered to lye on the Table.
D. Dulany, Esq from the Upper House, delivers to M.r Speaker,
the Bill, entitled, An Act for the Relief of several languishing
prisoners, &.ta And the following Message, Viz.t
By the Upper House of Assembly, December 4, 1766.
Gentlemen,
We make no Doubt, but you received from the Evidence offered
to your House, full Satisfaction upon your Enquiry into the Foun-
dation of the Allegations contained in the Petition of Mess.rs Slye
and Barnett, against the Relief of Mayberry Helmes, Jun.r of
Baltimore County, nor is any Thing in that Petition the Ground of
our objecting to his Name's being inserted in the Bill for Relief
of languishing Prisoners; and we presume, also, that you had suffi-
cient Cause for rejecting the Petitions of several Prisoners who
have applied this Session for Relief. Our Objection to the Relief
