raising four pence Sterling for every Hogshead of Tobacco exported
out of this Province for the Support of an Agent at London, for the
Services of this Province. Read the first and second time in the
Lower House and will Pass Read the first and second time by
especial Order in this House and will not pass Sent together with
the following Message by John Ridout Esq..r
By the Upper House of Assembly 17.th Nov.r 1766.
Gentlemen
We have returned your Bill, Entitled "An Act for raising four
pence Sterling for every Hogshead of Tobacco exported out of this
Province for the support of an Agent, at London, for the Services
of this Province" with our Negative, for the Reasons of our present
Dissent, and the Terms upon which we would most Chearfully
agree to your appointment of an Agent, we must take the Liberty,
to avoid Repetition, to refer you to our Message of the 16.th Decem-
ber 1765. attending our Dissent to a Bill, with a Similar Title, then
under Our Consideration
