Whereupon the sd Richard Complaineth agt the sd Nicholas for tht tht is to say tht the sd Nicholas on the 13th or 14th of Febr last past, & att othr times did att his now dwelling house being a house of publick resort & entertainemt openly falsely & malitiously speake & tinter diverse opprobious vilifying disgracefull & Calumniating words tending very much to the slandering & Defameing of the sd Richd in the prsence & hearing of Diverse persons but more especially Certaine of his Neighbours among whome for any man to live in Credit & Good repute the sd Richd humbly supposeth the benefite & advantage thereof & the Damage Inconvenience discomodity & [p. 103] detrimt That may ensue on the Contrary is altogether inexpressible, Wch words aforesd were in manner as followeth (viz) That the sd Richd being indebted to him the sd Nichol: in the quantity of seaventeen hundred pounds of tobaccoe on the ballance of all Accts as the sd Nicho: doth pretend & the sd Rich: refused to pay or to come to Acct wth the sd Nicho: or to make him paymt or satisfaction of the same though often thereunto required & tht he the sd Nicho: |
