180 Charles County Court Proceedings, 1668—1670.
Liber D Stephen Champ prsents his petition agt Willi: Marshall produceing
an Indenture signed by Wm Barrett for five yeares whereupon he
craveth order agt Wm Marshall as aforesd for a Discharge & for his
Come & Cloathes where upon it is ordered tht the sd servant be free
& tht the sd Wm Marshall pay him his Corne & Cloathes he makeing
the sd Marshall satisfaction for two daies comeing to Court & for
the Amercemt pd to the Court for judgeing his Age
John borne of Phillis Hayward is by the Consent of the Court &
his Mother bound to Mr Wm Barton his heires or Assigns for 21
yeares he or they paying Lu him at the Expiration of the time accord-
ing to the Custome of the Country to servants
[P. Hussy plt Acct Debt for 1050 lb Tobacco p bill

The plt complaineth agt the Defendt for tht the Defendt standeth
indebted unto him by byll under his hand & seale bearing date the
140 of January 1667 in the Sume of one thousand & fifty pounds of
Tobacco as by the sd byll may appeare & being there unto required
hath refused & as yet doth refuse the sd sume of Tobacco to the
plts Damage of one thousand five hundred pounds where upon he
bringeth his suite and craveth order agt the Defendt for the sd
sume of Tobacco with Cost of Suite &c.
Where upon the Defendant pleading tht it was not demanded the
enter'd his answer tht an Arrest is a sufficient Demand in law
upon wch it is order'd tht the Defendant shall pay the debt & the
charge to be divided betweene them
Thomas Hussy upon his Lops Answer to his peticon prsents a
peticon to the Court for to take his evidence tht he was sick wch
hindred his Coming
Thomas Buckridge aged 26 yeares or there abouts Sworne &
examined in open Court saith That on the ninth of 9br Tho: Hussey
was Distempered wth the wind Collick & on the 100 day he had a
feaver wch to out ward appearance hinder'd his Coming
[p. 44] Robert Cossleton craveth a continuance of the Attachmt agt Joseph
Edmonds estate till the Court to be held in Charles County on the
second Tuesday in March for 1238 lb of Tobacco wch is granted
Will Allen & John Munne acknowledge a Parcell of Land 300
Acres call'd the Doags Neck to Henry Aspinoll
This Indenture made this ninth day of Janr One Thousand six
hundred sixty eight betwixt John Munne & Will Allen of Charles
County in the Province of Maryland planters of the one parte &
Henry Aspinoll of the same County & province planter of the other
parte witnesseth tht the sd John Munn & Wm Allen for & in con-
