This House met according to Adjournment

Present as Yesterday
A Bill by Mess.rs Edmonson & F Gant entitled an Act to prevent
the Mischiefs arising from the Multiplicity of Useless Dogs & for
other Purposes therein Mentioned.
Read the first & second Time in the Lower House & will pass.
Read the first Time in this House & ordered to lye on the Table.
Adjourned until 3 oClock in the Afternoon

Read and referred to the Consideration of the Lower House, the
following Petitions Viz.t

The Petition of Barton Lucas late an Officer in the Maryland
Troops; The Petition of John Brashear, & Samuel Tannyhill Prison-
ers in Prince Georges County Goal, & of Captain John Barns a
Prisoner in Calvert County Goal. Sent by John Ridout Esquire.
Read the second Time a Bill entitled an Act for the Benefit of the
Poor & the Encouragement of Industry & will pass with the follow-
ing Amendment Viz.t
Strike out the first Proviso beginning in the 21.st Line & insert the
following Proviso Viz.t "Provided that the Linen for which the
Bounties aforesaid are to be given & allowed in Pursuance & by
Virtue of this Act shall completely in all and every Respect after
swingling the Flax & Hemp be manufactured by White Persons
within this Province & that the said Linen shall be made of Flax
or Hemp of the Growth of this Province and that such Proof shall
be made of the said Manufacture & Growth as the Justices in the
County Court to whom Application shall or may be made for the
Bounty aforesaid or the major Part of them shall require." So en-
dorsed & sent by Benedict Calvert Esq.r
A Bill by R: Goldsborough & Mr Harris, entitled an Act to prevent
the Navigation on Potowmack River, Monocacy and great Conico-
cheague Creeks being obstructed.
Read the first & second Time in the Lower House & will pass.
Read the first Time in this House & ordered to lye on the Table.
Adjourned until 10 oClock Tomorrow Morning
