An Act impowering the Justices of Prince George & Charles Coun-
ties to Levy on the Taxable Persons of Saint Johns (Commonly
called King Georges) Parish in the said Counties the sum of
fifty six Thousand Pounds of Tobacco for the Necessary en-
largement of their Parish Church

Whereas the Rector Vestrymen Church Wardens and Sundry
Parishioners of Saint Johns (Commonly called King Georges)
Parish in Prince Georges and Charles Counties by their Humble
Petition to this General Assembly representing that their Parish
Church is too small for the Congregation which Usually resorts
thereto have Prayed that an Act might Pass for the Assessment of
fifty six thousand Pounds of Tobacco on the Taxable Inhabitants
of the said Parish for enlarging the same

Be it therefore enacted by the Right Honble the Lord Proprietary
by and with the Advice and Consent of his Lordships Governor
and the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly and the Authority
of the same that the Justices of Prince Georges and Charles Counties
for the Time being shall be and they are hereby impowered and
required on the Application of the Vestry and Church Wardens of
Saint Johns (Commonly called King Georges) Parish in Prince
Georges and Charles Counties to Assess and Levy on the Taxable
Inhabitants of the said Parish the af.d sum of Fifty six thousand
Pounds of Tobacco and the Salary of Five Per Centum to the
Sheriff for Collecting the same at two equal Assessments which said
Assessments shall be respectively made by the Justices af.d in Pro-

portion to the Taxable Inhabitants oi the said Parish residing in
their several and respective Counties and the same together with the
Sheriffs Sallary for Collection shall be Payable by the Taxable
Inhabitants of the said Parish and Collected by the Sheriffs of the
said Counties in the same manner as Publick and County levies are
Payable and Collected and shall be by them respectively Paid to
the Vestry and Church Wardens of the said Parish for the Time
being who are hereby Authorized and Impowered to Apply the same
