and Scales
to be exam-
ined every
Year]

And be it further enacted That the Justices are hereby directed
and required some time in the Month of March in every Year to
Appoint two or more of their Number to View the said Scales
and Examine and try the Weights at the several Warehouses by
the Standard Weights of the County and if the same or the other
Necessaries hereby required shall want repairing or the Weights be
found deficient or differing from the Lawfull Standard the said Jus-
tices shall cause the same to be repaired and amended and the Weights
made Conformable to the Standard and the charge of Repairing and
Amending as aforesaid shall be paid by the Inspectors Respectively
and be again Allowed them in their Account with the said Justices

And be it further enacted That the Warehouse or Warehouses
Wharffs Prizes and Cranes already Built and Continued by this
Act to be Warehouses for the Inspection of Tobacco the owners or
Proprietors thereof are hereby Obliged to let the same to the In-
spector or Inspectors as the Case shall be under the Penalty of
thirty two thousand Pounds of Tobacco and that Case the rent of
six Pounds of Tobacco per Hogshead as aforesaid shall be paid
to such Owners or Proprietors of such Warehouses Respectively by
the Several Inspectors and the residue of the fifty six Pounds of
Tobacco per Hogshead and the twenty eight Pounds of Tobacco on
the Eastern Shore and the twenty four Pounds of Tobacco on the
Western Shore per Hogshead mentioned in this Act shall be Ap-
plyed to pay and defray the Charge of the Inspectors Salaries and
other expences such as finding Weights and Scales and other Neces-
saries mentioned in this Act and the keeping them in reapir According
to the true intent and Meaning of this Act and that for all Matters
relating to the expence for putting this Act in Execution and the

Profitts to be raised thereby the Several Inspectors shall Annually
lay before the respective Justices fair and Distinct Accounts of the
Profitts and Loss relating to their respective Offices on Oath or
Affirmation if a Quaker and the Justices aforesaid shall Settle and
Adjust such Account and that if the Profitts of said Warehouses
shall over and above bare the expences of this Act that then the
Overplus shall be Applyed to defray the Charge of the County

made of the
Warehouses
or Lands]

Provided always that nothing herein contained shall be construed
to give Power to the owner or Proprietor of any Warehouse or
Warehouses on any Pretence Whatsoever to make any Private use
thereof Whatsoever whilst the same shall be under Rent to the
Publick under the Penalty of one thousand Pounds of Tobacco nor
to the said Inspectors to keep any Horses Cattle or Hogs at any of
the Publick Warehouses (except in Inclosures) upon the Land Ap-

pointed for such Warehouses and if any Swine belonging to the said
Inspectors or any of them shall be found at large upon the Land
Appointed for such Warehouses or the Lands Adjoining thereto it
shall and may be law full for the Proprietor of the Land on which
