as great as what you have mentioned would be raised even in One
Year And as we Conceive a sum adequate to the purposes of Levying
Cloathing & paying the Men which you have thought fit to Vote
made be easily raised in the Province without creating such Con-

fusion or discord among the Inhabitants as it certainly would be
occasioned was this New intricate System of yours to be carried
into Execution we are in hopes that upon mature consideration you
will agree to raise the Supplies wanted by some such simple mode
of Taxation as hath been heretofore pursued in this so that the
dispute which has indeed already to long subsisted between the
Houses between the two Houses of Assembly may at length be
happily terminated

His Excellency the Governor Communicates to House the follow-
ing Message

Gentlemen of the Upper House of Assembly
The Commissary General having by letter informed me that the
external Wall of the south porch of the Court where the Records &
papers of his are kept is in so ruinous a Condition that without
speedy Repairs that Office and the Records and and Papers there will
be entirely open to the Embezlement of any Person and to the Weather
I think it my duty to recommend it to both Houses to appoint a

Committee to inspect the Publick Buildings and to appropriate such
