THIS IS A STATEMENT OF EXPENDITURES OF MONIES
OBTAINED BY PRIVATE SUBSCRIPTION TO SUPPORT THE
MILITIA OF QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY WHEN IT WAS
MARCHED TO THE DEFENSE OF THE FRONTIER BY GOVERNOR
SHARPE IN THE WINTER OF 1757-1758. THE ASSEMBLY
HAD FAILED TO PASS A SUPPLY BlLL, AND THE MONEY
NECESSARY TO PROVIDE FOR THE COUNTY MILITIA WHEN
CALLED OUT BY THE GOVERNOR, WAS RAISED BY PRIVATE
SUBSCRIPTIONS, AROUSING GREAT INDIGNATION IN THE
LOWER HOUSE.

Received of His Excellency Horatio Sharpe the sum of Twenty
two Pounds seven Shillings Currency out of the Subscription Money
in his Hands towards reimbursing me the Money that I was under a
necessity of expending in Jan.y, Feby, and March 1758, when I was
marching with my Company of Militia from Queen Anns County
to the Frontier of Frederick during my Stay there and on my Return.
