Kent County Court Proceedings, 1656-1662. 95 This day was prsented to the Court the iforesaid accoumpts of Liber B W Nicholas Browns estat by Capt Rob Vaughan and W Henery Morgan, their depossitions ifollow You Capt Robert Vaughan & Mr Henery Morgan; shall heare in [fol. 13] the prsence of God, truly swear, that this Acct, that you heare prsent vnto this Court, is a true and Just Acct, of all the estate of Mr Nic~ Browne deceassed, to the best of yor knowledges, And tht at any tyme heareafter, any more of the estate shall come to yor knowl- edges, tht you shall make it knowen, vnto this Court, & add it to yor afforesaid Inuentory, A tht you pay only the Just debts, of the decedent; And allso, tht you take spetiall Care, tht the sd estat, bee secured, and prserued, vntill lawfull Claime, bee made by or from, the executor, accordinge to the will of the decesed; And furthermor that at the next Orphans Court, on this Island, you or sume other, authorised by you, doe make yor appeareance, and giue in a true accoumpt, of the affore sd estat, how it is either Incressed, or de- creassed; Soe helpe you God. This aboue writen, beeinge distinctly Read, to Capt Rob Vaughan and W Henery Morgan; They haue tooke their Othes, in the prsents of the Court, that the aforesaid accoumpt, is a true and Just Ac- coumpt and also, to make good the Charge; Att a Court houlden for kent the 19th of Desembr being for (*) orphans 1656 prsent Mr Philh Conner Comander Mr Tho: Ringgold Mr Tho: Hinson Commissiors Capt Jo: Russell: Itt hath Appeard vnto The Court by francis Barnes That John Day gaue vnto his wife And to her Childeren After her Death one hefer And her incresse for ever only The sd fra: Barnes to haue The Maell Cattell for his Care in looking After Them: And There is now of That stoke in his Possetion flue femall/ As followeth/ The old Cow which is Pied And Brinded Croopt on both eares And slett in one A lame hefer of Robt Haltons marke: The 3d A blake hefer of The old Cowes marke: the 4th A Pied hefer of 2 yeares old like old Cow: The 5th A yearlin browne Pied: both of The same marke the old Cow: And This he Afermes is A True Account: And he will be willing to giue An Acct yearly when he shall be lawfully Calld/ Whereas Mr Phill Conner And John Winchester both Did f or- merly giue vnto John Winchesters eldest sunn A Cow Calfe About 2 yeares since which the sd Winchester Acknowledgis is in his Posse- * From here the hand of Clerk Thomas Hinson continues, on folios 13-15, the orphan court record that Thomas Hill had begun. |
