Talbot County Court Proceedings, 1662-1674. 477 Jno Clements Declares to the to this Courtt that Jno Starke Stands Liber BB Indebted unto him Eight hundred thirty foure Pounds of tobacoe No.2 due by bill the Said John Stark Accknowlegd Judgment to Jno Clements for his debt afore said the Courtt hath Orderd that Jno Stark make Present Payment of his debt According to his Bill with Cost of Sute &c Jno Clements Declares against Tho: Philipes for Six hundred forty two Pounds of tobacoe due p bill Tho Philipes Accknowleges a Judg ment to Jno Clements for his debt The Courtt hath ordred that Tho: Philipes Make Present unto Jno Clements of Six hundred forty two Pounds of tobacoe According to his bill with Cost of sute &c To the Worshipll Comisscońs for Talbott County The humble [p. 152] Petticon of Joseph Wickes Sheweth that Thomas Hailings hath Inticed and Encoraged two men Saruants of yor Petticofls (Viz) Walter Tully and Rich Hew- son to make theire Escapes And Run away from yor Petticońs Saruis & Promised them to gett them A Pass under the seale of the County that they Might make theire thorrow Escapes Likewise was Coming with two other fugatiues Rogues in Company In a Boate towards yor Petticońs Landing On the 14th day of Octobt Last Butt being dis couered By yor Petticoń & Jno Ingram they went & hidd them selues In a marsh Neare yor Petticońs Plantacon & was Lurking & Sculk ing about yor Petticofls Land untill two or three a Clock in the Morning on the 15th day of the Said Munth Nere night the Said Hailings was Seen by Robertt Bartrom Nere yor Petticońs Plantacon Lurking by A fler And the Said Bartrom going Nere to the Said Hailings he went into the woods from him then the Said Bartrom Called him Thomas Railings the Said hailings Reffused to make Any Answear at all & Likewise on the 16th day of the Said Munth In the Morneing the Said Railings was Seen againe Likewise Lurk ing Nigh yor Petticońs Plantacon by a fier & being demainded of him what he did there the Said Railings Answared that he was Looking his hoggs whereas the said Hailings had noe hoggs haueing Sould his hoges aboute a forttnight before: which fore said Acteing And Proseedings of the Said Hailings being dunn the greatest Partt in yor Petticońs Absence being gon towards St Marys of which the Said Hailings is Not able to giue Any Accornpt of for the Same: yor Petticoń hath Just Cause to Suspect that the Said Railings hath not only Indeuored to Rob yor Petticoń of his Saruant But Likewise to Rob yor Petticońs house And likewise one of y0r Petticońs Saruants hath taken his Councell & is Run away from yor Petticoń The Primises Considered yor Petticon Humbly Craues of this Worshipll Courtt to grant Order that the Said Hailings Make good yor Petticoń damage & suffer such Punishment & Peneilty as is Agreeable to Law & just demeritt And yor Pettr Shall Pray: |
