Kent County Court Proceedings, 1675-1676.343 The Jurys Charge Liber C Gentlemen of the Jury yow shall dilligently & truly Iuquiry make into the business now depending betwixt Edward skidmore plt & Thomas Lewis dft without ptiallity favour or any other by respect but to the best of yor Contions deliur in yor verdict according to yor Evidence so help yow God The Jurr verdict Wee heere of the Jury Do finde for the Dft John wells foreman This Jury findeing for the dft This Court Doth Order a Non sute agst the plt with Costs of sute else Execucon Wheareas Edward swettnam brought a servant to Court named [fol. 73] Edward Ayres that came in without Indentures & is Judged by the Court tht he is twelue yeares old This Court doth order tht the sd servant doe serue according to the Act of Assembly It is ordered by this Court tht Robert Hood doe pay fower hun dred pounds of Tobb for makeing a false returne of a writt against Arthur wright. Wheareas it is Ordered by this Court tht mr willm Lawrence & mr disboro Bennett with the shirriff & Clrke, doe meete at the house of Peter Harrison & secure so much of the estate of Alexander Towerson late of this County deed (as it was appraised) as will Amount to the suth of Tenn Thowsand two hundred Nynty & six pounds of Tobb the said Tobb belonging to the two orphants of the said Alexander Towerson, wch said Goodes once knowne & reed by yoW & an Inventary thereof taken; tht yow put them into the posses~ sion of the abouesd mr William Larrance & when yoW haue soe donn tht yow Cause the Clrke to Certifie us of yor pceedings at the next Court to be holden for ths County mr disboro Bennett recordeth his marke for the futher wch is over keeld & under keeld on both eares the Right eare Cropt Mr disboroe Bennet recordeth a yearling Heifer Giuen by him to Lettis the daughter of John & Annikin Dabb, markeed over keeld & under keeld on th left eare, over keiki underkeild Crupp & slitt in the Cropp on the right eare, & if the Lettis should dye before day of Marriage, or Age, the sd Heifer with her female Increase to goe to John Mecenny her half brother Mr disboro Bennet recordeth a Cow calf with her female Increase, giuen by him to Charles the sunn of Edward & Ann Lowder marked with a flower deluce, on the right eare, & a swallow forke on the left eare. |
