Called Examined & Sworn as a fore
The Jurors withdrew to Consider of the Said Bill and their
Charge The Jurors being Called and answering all of them to their p. 105
Call by their Severall names foreman delivered in their Verdict (fol. 131)
Endorsed on the back side of the Said Bill with this word (viz.t)

Pope Alvey Called by his name to the Barr
Pope Alvey first demanded of him what he had to Say for himself
to which he Craves benefit of Clergy w.ch was Granted him & the
Books being Given and demanded whether he read, answer was made
that he Read
Ordered thereupon that the Said Pope Alvey be forthwith burnt
in the brawn of his Right hand with a Red hot Iron
Which was by the Undersheniff Imediately Executed
At a Provinciall Court held at S.t maries the 3.d day of Jan.ry 1665/6

following All Justices of peace Coroners Stewarts of Leets & Lib-
ertys & other officers that have taken any Inquisitions, Indictm.t8 or
Recognizances whereby you have let any any man to be bayle put in
your Records thereof forthwith that his Lordship's Councell may
proceed
Whereupon William Calvert Escp his Lordship's Attorney Gen-
erall prefers this Indictment folIowing viz.t
Let it be Enquired for the Right Hon.ble the Lord Prop.ry whether (fol. 132)
Pope Alvey of New Town Hundred in the County of S.t maries
Cooper the nineteenth day of December in the year one thousand Six
hundred Sixty five at Bretton's bay in New Town hundred in the
Co.tY afores.d a Certain Cow of black Colour to the value of two
pounds ten Shillings Sterling of the Goods & Chattells of Coil.0
William Evans then & there being found feloniously took Stoled
killed & Carryed away against the peace of the Said Lord proprietary
his Rules and Dignity
Then the Cryer made proclamation again Saying
You Good men that be Impanneiled to Enquire for the Right
Hon.ble the Lord proprietary for the body of this province answer to
your names Every man at the first Call upon pain & peril that Shall
fall thereon
