Liber No. 48
December 23

p. 21

Tuesday, December 24, 1754.

The House met according to Adjournment, &c.
Mr. Matthew Tilghman, from the Committee of Laws, delivers
to Mr. Speaker the following Address ingrossed, viz.
To his Excellency Horatio Sharpe, Esq; Governor and Commander
in Chief in and over the Province of Maryland.
The humble Address of the House of Delegates.
May it please your Excellency,
Although we conceive, that many Matters contained in the Minutes
of Proceedings of the Commissioners in the late Congress, held at
Albany, communicated to this House by your Excellency, with your
Message of the 21st Day of December Instant, are of very great
Importance, and much concern the Rights, Liberties, and Properties
of the good People of this Province; yet we apprehend they do not
require our immediate Attention, and the Business of this Session
being, we hope, near a Conclusion, the Inclemency of the Season also
strongly inclining us to return to our respective Homes, we have,
therefore, referred the Consideration of them to the next Session of
Assembly.
W'hich was read and assented to, and signed, by Order of the
House, by the Honourable Speaker.
Ordered, That Dr. Carroll and Mr. Waggaman do attend his
Excellency and acquaint him, that this House hath prepared an
Address to be presented to him, and desires to know when, and
where, he will please to receive it: They return, and acquaint Mr.
Speaker, they delivered the Message, and that his Excellency was
pleased to signify that he would be ready to receive the Address
immediately, in the Conference Chamber.
Ordered, That Dr. Carroll, and Five more, do Present the Address.
Richard Lee, Esq; from the Upper House, delivers to Mr. Speaker
the Bill, entituled, An Act for raising a Supply towards his Maj-
esty's Service; indorsed, " By the Upper House of Assembly, Decem-
ber 24, 1754. Read the second Time, and will not pass.
Signed per Order, J. Ross, Cl. Up. Ho.
