Martin, but to enforce a Compliance with our Demand, we request
you to have the Action struck off, on his paying the Costs which
have accrued.

[Council to Capt. George p. Keeports]

We enclose you an Order on the Commissary of Baltimore County
for 3000 Bushels of Wheat, which we request you to sell for Specie
out of which, pay over £600. to Stephen Steward junr of Baltimore
Town and transmit us his Receipt.

[Council to Colo Samuel Smith.]

Mr Steward informs us that he has directed his Son to deliver over
to you, the five thousand Dollars, brought in by Capt. Martin, for
the State. Upon your receiving the Money, you will be pleased, if
you have delivered our former Letter to the Naval Officer, to deliver
the enclosed also, which countermands the Orders contained in the
other; you will also deliver the Letter to the Attorney General. We
have put you to much Trouble in this Business, but we have been
induced thereto by our Opinion of your Desire to render the Public
any real Service, which we hope will be our Apology.

We have this Day appointed you to be Commissary General of
this State; the enclosed Bill points out your Duties and Salary. It will
be necessary, in Case of your Acceptance of the Office, to repair to
this City as early as possible, as the Business is now suffering, for
the Want of a Superintendant.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to George Murdock
Esqr five hundred pounds of the Bills emitted under the Act for the
Emission of Bills of Credit &ca on Account
That the said Treasurer pay to James Dick Esquire two thousand
two hundred and seventy three pounds, six shillings and nine pence
Specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the Debts due from this State
per Certificates adjusted the 5th Instant

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Allen Quynn
Esqr Fifty two pounds, ten shillings of the Bills emitted under the
Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca fifteen pounds thereof to
be delivered to Erasmus Gantt and thirty seven pounds, ten shillings
to David Bradford due them per Accounts passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Williams thirty seven
pounds, six shillings and eight pence of the Same Emission, nine
pounds part thereof to be delivered over to George Cross and twenty
