is, to request you will take some Step to have the Account with Mr
Simmonds setled, and to appoint some Person to receive the Balance
still due. He is to account for 94,300lbs of Tobacco at 16/. Sterling
p Cent, and he is to have Credit for all the Advances made to the
Officers of the Maryland Line, upon his making out an Account
against each Officer, and proving it according to Law. The Money
received from Mr Simmonds, may be applied to the Payment of the
five Months Pay, directed by the General Assembly, but the Sum
received must be replaced, and lodged in the Treasury, subject to our
Order, out of the first Funds appropriated to that Purpose. Enclosed
you have an Order on Mr Simmonds to pay to your Order, the Bal-
ance in his Hands.

You will be pleased to settle your Account with The Honorable
Daniel of St Thomas Jenifer Esquire, Intendant of the Revenue of
the State of Maryland, or any Person by him appointed, and pay the
Balance due the State, to his Order.

Present His Excellency the Governor.
Benja Stoddert, Gabriel Duvall & James Brice Esqr
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John Neill Twenty
seven pounds, nineteen shillings and eight pence specie agreeable to
the Act to adjust the Debts due from this State per Account passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Callahan Twenty three
pounds, eighteen shillings and ten pence specie for one years Interest
on a Certificate issued agreeable to the "Act to adjust the Debts due
from this State " —

[W Paca in Council to His Excy The Presidt of the Delaware State.]

Captn Levin Handy, an Officer of the Barges fitted out by this
State, and a Prisoner to the Enemy's Barges, informs us, that a
Captn Wm Aug. Perry who captured him, is now a Prisoner to your
State. We have the Honor to solicit the Favor of your Excellency,
to suffer Capt Perry to be exchanged for Captn Handy, should you
have no Officer in the Hands of the Enemy, whom you are desirous
of exchanging. We are the more anxious to be indulged in this Re-
quest, as Captn Handy is a meritorious Officer, whose Services are
immediately wanted for the Defence of our Bay. We beg you to be
persuaded we shall be happy in an Opportunity of showing the like
Attention to the deserving Citizens of your State
