Auditor. —
Permission given to Baruch Williams of Csecil County to Solicit
His Excellency General Washington or the Officers commanding at
the Out posts of the American Army for a Flag to go into the City of
New York for the purpose of obtaining the Books, Records and
other Public Papers belonging to Caecil County aforesaid, which
were carried from thence in the year seventeen hundred and seventy
seven by the British Army under the command of General Howe,
on their passage through this State to Philadelphia. —

Friday 25th October 1782

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Joseph Middleton
eleven pounds, five shillings specie for transporting three Officers of
the Maryland Line to the Head of Elk per Account passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Lt George Grason thirty pounds
Specie out of the money appropriated for the Barges per Accot
passed.
That the said Treasurer pay to Joseph Middleton ten pounds, two
shillings and six pence specie agreeable to the Act to adjust the
Debts due from this State per Accounts passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Robert Wilson twenty five pounds,
eight shillings and ten pence specie agreeable to the Act to adjust
the Debts &ca per Certificate adjusted the 8th Instant.
Commission issued to Peter Edmondson elected Sheriff of Caro-
line County. —

[Council to Honble Intendant]

Capt. Bryan has come from the Barges for some Liquor. We
understand there is a Mr Walter Beall in Town, with Brandy to
sell at 5/ p Gallon, and we request you will cause to be purchased
for the Use of the Barges, three Hogsheads. Mr Beall will give a
short Credit.
If the Intendant is not in Town, Mr Couden will be pleased to
do this Business. There will certainly be Money in the Treasury,
appropriated to the Barges in three Weeks or a Month.

[Council to Majr Genl Lincoln]

There are about 70 Recruits in this State, who only wait for
Cloathing to be marched on to the Army. The Resolutions of Con-
gress are so positive, that the United States shall pay, feed, and
cloath the Army, that we are unwilling to furnish these Men 'with
even necessary Articles, for they are almost naked, and we therefore
have the Honor to request that Cloathing may be sent for them either
